Blessings!

Some of you know and some of you may not - I entered Carla's January Challenge and spent the month decluttering and working hard on my finances.  In the end, I actually won the prize!  Oh - and I've outed myself as well.

Yep - My first name is Pam!

I'm feeling extremely blessed to have won the challenge.  I feel even more blessed that Carla set it up, and I was able to complete the items she gave us as homework each week.

I brought in $19 of extra income, I saved $25 from my budget, I won the $20 from Carla, and I ended up making about $110 in extra income (to be paid to me tomorrow on pay day0 for the month of January!  Not only that but I was included in a program that has paid me $10 so far, and will be passing on some funds to me monthly for the rest of the year.  Every single dollar counts, and will be going towards my debt!

I am looking for ways to do the same thing in February!

Blessings have a way of perpetuating through positivity.  I am determined more than ever to get this debt done by year's end now!

Also - the one thing I couldn't exactly due without were new glasses.  It's been 4 years since my last eye exam, and I've been noticing things aren't as clear and I'm doing the look through other sections of my glasses thing so I can read things.  I'm a little upset that I didn't research my purchases a little better, and thusly spent $399 on 2 pairs of glasses, lens and frames and coatings etc from Hakim optical.  It was a sale.  I got some great prescription sunglasses and a pair of new glasses.  Then Carla - she's really fantastic! - mentioned she went to clearlycontacts.ca and got a pair of "free" glasses, so I thought, what the heck, let's give it a go.  I popped on there, and for the price of 2 coatings, and shipping ($36 in total!) I also got a pair of "free" glasses!  Here's the best thing!  Although all of these things add up to a bunch of money...it's all free to me!  Coverage is a great thing!

I'm feeling overwhelmingly blessed at the moment.  After tomorrow (which is pay day), I'll update you all about how much debt I've cleared because of this windfall.

I hope you are all working hard on your individual journeys toward your goals.  Incidently - if you are in Canada and need some glasses, you can see if the deal from clearlycontacts.ca is still there.  At the very least, instead of pairing hundreds for your glasses, you can spend tens of dollars.

  1. Congrats! I love clearly contacts, I've been buying glasses there for 2 years (3 pairs) and still haven't spent what I did on my pair before them ($430!) Here's hoping Feb will be just as blessed :)

    1. They have great service and really good prices! After my experience - from order to arrival was 2 days! - I will definitely use the service again in future. Much more reasonably priced!!

  2. Congrats on the winnings. I'm also researching lenses mentioned by another blogger, since I don't feel the frames (or lenses) I got (at the cost of $140--ugh!) are all that fitting or good quality. Very disappointed, but gotta keep looking up and make things work!

    1. Firmoo is another website that does the same thing. My favourite feature was that I could download a picture of myself and "try on" the frames to see what I would look like with them. Both clearly contacts and firmoo let you do that!

Believe me - the glasses I got from Clearly contacts I love waaay more than one of the pairs from Hakim's and they were ready much much faster than Hakim as well!

  5. Ahhhhh I love a good deal :) I am blessed also with having good coverage as I just got new glasses too. Sooooooo expensive what with invisible bi-focals and all but expensive for my insurance, not for me! Let's hope those blessings keep coming our way!

    1. As do I! Invisible bifocals must be quite the price hike for your glasses - certainly glad insurance needs to worry about that and not you. I'm happy to take the blessings any way i can get them
